Metal Finisher
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Production Manager
Compensation: $16 - $22 base rate 10% shift differential pay
Summary/Objective: Set up, operate, or tend grinding and related tools that remove excess material or burrs from surfaces, sharpen edges or corners, or buff, hone, or polish metal or plastic work pieces.
Essential Functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Cleans, deburrs, polishes, or grinds items using hand tools or powered equipment.
2. Scrapes or rubs parts with file, wire brush, or buffing cloth.
3. Deburrs or polishes parts, using portable grinder, buffer, deburring tool, or hand pick.
4. Mounts part on revolving spindle or chuck and holds or moves tools, such as file, abrasive stone, or cloth against workpiece to file, grind, polish, or buff surface.
5. Cleans interior surfaces of holes, using reamer.
6. Utilizes chemical finishing equipment and techniques to clean and/or passivate parts
7. Changes tools on powered equipment.
8. Applies abrasive compound, wax, or other dressing to facilitate cleaning or polishing operation
9. Following processing steps according to the engineered routing
10. Enter labor transactions into labor tracking software
11. Adhere to all safety requirements
12. Understand and follow all 5S requirements
Competencies:
1. Precision with product.
2. Understanding of deburring techniques.
3. Understanding of deburring materials and uses.
Work Environment: The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where loud sounds and vibrations are present. This may require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields and mandatory hearing protection.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Must be able to lift up to 30 lb.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m (Evening Shift) .
Travel: No travel required for this position.
Required Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education and Experience: Deburring/Finishing experience (1 years)
