Job Description:
The Purchasing Agent will support the activities of the purchasing department and the Team members within the department. The Purchasing Agents primary responsibility will encompass sourcing and procuring all non-raw material requirements and confirming delivery dates on all open purchase orders. The position will also support direct raw material purchases as needed.
Key competencies: Analytical Skills, Critical Thinking Skills, Communication and Interpersonal Skills, Computer Skills, and Knowledge of Supply Chain Activities. They will report to the Director of Purchasing.
Job Responsibilities:
- Issue purchase orders for supplies, and equipment, and follow up with vendors for date, price, and quantity confirmations.
- Maintain the info record, source list, freight conditions, freight costs, and master data of vendor and item on a regular basis.
- Resolve issues with receiving and processing payment to vendors, as necessary.
- Identify the root cause/corrective actions for non-raw material supply and quality concerns.
- Proactively follow up on outstanding issues with open orders to ensure full closure.
- Coordinate deliveries from vendors and 3rd party Logistics company to ensure shipments arrive on time.
- Ensure all dealings with suppliers are conducted in compliance with the purchasing Code of Ethics.
- Ensure compliance with responsible sourcing and sustainable policies.
- Building relationships with Suppliers and negotiating with them for best price, quantities and delivery timescales.
- Assists with grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Assists in maintaining and/or implementing purchasing and recordkeeping systems.
- Assists in removal or disposal of surplus materials. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in science, Engineering, Chemistry, Business, Economics, Supply Chain or any other relevant discipline from a reputable institute is desired.
- 2 years relevant experience in procurement, production control and production planning in a manufacturing environment ideally gained in the chemical or Flavor & Fragrance industry.
- Excellent oral and written proficiency in the English language.
- Production/Planning skills: Knowledge of Good manufacturing processes (GMP’s).
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Deadline oriented.
- IT skills - Proficiency in using common PC applications
- Excellent ability to work with others.
- Cognitive (Reasoning):
- Apply principles of rational systems to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, visual, or schedule form.
- Communication:
- Vocalize and explain detailed data and problem-solve, both in-person and by telephone Must have good communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Compose routine correspondence on own initiative
- Make comprehensive notes in English
- May involve a large volume of such composition.
- Must have ability to work well under pressure
