What are the responsibilities and job description for the Resource Specialist position at Bellevue-Santa Fe Charter School?
Under supervision of the director, provide individual and small group instruction to students receiving services through the Individual Education Program; test, diagnose and prescribe instructional patterns for student support; serve as a resource teacher to the general education teachers; communicate student progress and needs; assist in monitoring 504 accommodations, assist in monitoring Speech and Language services; adhere to Special Education timelines and reporting regulations; participate in BSFCS staff activities.
Essential Function:
- Plan and diagnose, with others, the pattern of services to be provided for the students to be served.
- Provide instruction, or direct others in providing instruction and services, to learners.
- Confer regularly with the classroom teachers, director, parents, and service providers on student needs and effectiveness of programs.
- Collaboratively establish a system for scheduling learners’ access to instruction and services in appropriate settings (Student Services Room, general classrooms, exterior spaces, etc.).
- Assist the teachers and special education coordinator on the development, collection, and evaluation of data relative to Special Education.
- Establish record-keeping systems to document continued learner progress relative to learner academic and behavioral goals.
- Assist learners in the general education classroom.
- Supervise aides, paraprofessionals, and other support personnel working under Special Education Services.
- Assist teachers in the development and implementation of ancillary programs, strategies, supports, and curriculum designed to foster academic growth and/or motivation for learners.
- Identify, requisition, and store appropriate instructional materials.
- Communicate IEP goals, accommodations, and services with all applicable staff to promote a cohesive learning environment for students.
- Formulate 504 plans and monitor accommodation implementation.
- Schedule IEPs, 504, SST and staffing meetings, with coordination for coverage.
- Provide reading intervention instruction and monitoring for Tier II students.
- Assist students with technology in the event that SLP services are offered virtually.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs.
- Meet with classroom teachers to discuss and help resolve educational and/or behavioral issues relative to students.
- Encourage students to apply Growth Mindset practices and strive for independence.
- Establish and maintain a positive and effective learning environment that is developmentally appropriate to the students being served.
- Maintain professional competence and participate in BSFCS activities and traditions.
- Work with staff to implement success-oriented routines and procedures for student support relative to projects and assignments.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Salary : $57,901 - $123,165
