Position Summary:
The Logistics Accounting Analyst serves as the primary division contact for managing carrier financial relationships, with a focus on resolving payment discrepancies and optimizing cash flow. This role bridges the gap between logistics operations and financial reporting by analyzing transaction data, reconciling accounts, and providing actionable insights. The analyst leverages advanced financial systems to maintain data integrity, generate comprehensive reports, and identify process improvement opportunities. This position is essential for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping while supporting strategic decision-making across the logistics function.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reconciliation • Serve as primary division contact for researching and resolving short pays and unapplied funds• Process and reconcile weekly rebates, ACH payments, and logistics spreadsheets• Maintain carrier payment accuracy through systematic reconciliation and audit processes• Identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records promptly
Data Analysis & Reporting • Generate comprehensive financial analytics and reports for management decision-making• Develop and maintain dashboards tracking key logistics accounting metrics• Analyze carrier payment trends to identify cost-saving opportunities• Provide data-driven insights to support logistics optimization
System Management • Utilize modern accounting systems to record, analyze, and report financial data• Implement process automation where applicable to improve efficiency• Maintain data integrity across financial systems• Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software.
Cross-Functional Collaboration • Act as liaison between carriers and logistics departments to resolve payment issues• Support division departments with account and transactional information• Maintain confidentiality of carrier information while facilitating necessary information flow• Partner with logistics teams to improve financial processes
Compliance & Documentation • Ensure adherence to company policies and financial regulations• Maintain accurate digital documentation of all financial transactions• Support audit processes with well-organized financial records• Stay current with industry best practices and accounting standards
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
2 years of experience in accounting, preferably in logistics or transportation industry
Strong data analysis skills with the ability to extract insights from complex financial datasets
Experience with financial process automation and continuous improvement methodologies
Demonstrated problem-solving abilities related explicitly to financial reconciliation
Excellence in digital collaboration and virtual communication across departments
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data visualization
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion with sensitive financial information
Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and commitment to accuracy
Adaptability to changing priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment
Knowledge of transportation billing practices and standard industry payment terms is preferred.
This is a 100% in-office role from our Fort Worth General Office.
