About the job :
Provide Youth Cheerleading program instruction under the supervision and direction of the Youth Cheerleading Team Lead. Teach the rules and fundamentals of Cheerleading. Promote an environment consistent with program philosophies and goals.
Job Responsibilities :
- Learn cheer and motions before practice so they can teach the participants
- Knowledge of safe spotting techniques for stunting
- Help with set up and cleanup of practice
- Knowledge of tumbling and jump technique
- Ability to communicate with participants who demonstrate a wide range of abilities
- Comprehension of written practice plans / goals for the program
- Following direction of their supervisor
- Collaboration and communication with other coaches
- Utilize autonomy to lead small groups in pre-planned exercises
- Communicating with parents / guardians about a child’s performance, behavior, etc.
- Written communication with Head Coach and BPRD staff
- Potentially lifting and moving heavy equipment
- Demonstrating good / proper behavior for the participants
- When showing exercises / drills / technique
- Communication / respect towards other coaches and Head Coach

Some positions may require possession of CPR / First Aide certification to be provided through on-the-job training.
Supervision Exercised :
Supervision is not normally a responsibility of this position.
Supervision Received :
Work under the direct supervision of the JSFC Manager.
Working Conditions :
Depending on the program, duties may be performed either indoors or outdoors, which may include working in extreme weather conditions. Work schedule is varied and may require evenings, weekends and holidays. Hours vary depending upon specific childcare and youth program needs. The flow of work and character of duties involve normal mental and visual attention much or all of the time. Work requires continuous contact with infants, toddlers and children and requires a great deal of energy, patience and flexibility. Frequent exposure to childhood illnesses poses slight health hazard. Physical exertion includes frequent walking, bending and the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted, pushing, pulling and kneeling in order to lift children, equipment and supplies. Job stress may include dealing with parents / patron, crowds, uncooperative participants, difficult individuals, exposure to illness and periods of continuous demand.
