Chief of Staff
Bender Equity is looking for a Chief of Staff who will work directly with the BE Leadership team to tackle key issues facing the family office and its portfolio companies. This is a high impact position that will provide leadership across key projects, administration, culture and communications. This position will need to be able to change altitudes quickly and manage multiple priorities that will change on a weekly basis. It will be a dynamic, impactful, and unique experience that will require the ability to connect dots, elevate insights and trends, and generate ideas. Must possess the ability to work autonomously and look for opportunities to drive improvement and results across the platform. This role is responsible for partnering with both internal and external stakeholders on a day-to-day basis and will act on behalf of and represent the leadership teams and help shape and amplify the intent and messaging of the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
Administration and Key Projects
- Partner with and act as a trusted advisor and support resource to the BE leadership team
- Act as Project Manager on company initiatives across broad set of functional areas
- Support BE leadership with the coordination of events and calendars, organizing events and travel, and being an active participant in meetings and projects
- Serve as Office Manager for the Ridgewood office and coordinate with other offices at both BE and the portfolio companies
Culture & Communication
- Work with teams on culture to ensure cultural initiatives are effectively developed & communicated
- Assist in recruiting, onboarding, training & retaining a world-class team
- Work with the BE leaderships team to ensure all policies, procedures and standards are up to date and in compliance with regulation and organization policy
- Support portfolio company coordination and communication efforts
- Direct marketing and branding efforts internally and externally to include managing BE’s social media presence and internal BE collateral program
- Support BE’s charitable giving initiatives
Qualifications
- BA and 5 years of business experience including several of the following areas: consulting, project management, marketing, legal, HR, communications, technology and overall administrative support
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to balance and prioritize multiple projects and responsibilities to ensure all deadlines are timely met
- Advanced problem-solving, conflict resolution, active listening, and time management skills
- Highly detail-oriented with an aptitude and desire to learn new concepts, conduct research and display critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly synthesize to drive decision-making
- Demonstrates a positive attitude and high ethical standards; able to work well in a team environment and is seen as a strong team player
- Atypically versatile. Able to dive into many roles and do them well from working strategically to hands on
- Knowledge and success in C-level interactions and discussions around corporate strategy
- Start up and early growth company experience a plus
