POSITION SUMMARY

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Mathematics position to begin August 2025. The candidate should have a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field. While candidates from all areas are welcome to apply, those with interest in or experience teaching applied mathematics, mathematics education, or statistics may be given preference. The beautiful campus of Benedictine College is situated in picturesque Atchison, KS on the bluffs above the Missouri River. Atchison is within an hour drive of major cities such as Kansas City, Saint Joseph, Lawrence, and Topeka as well as 40 minutes from the Kansas City International Airport. Benedictine College has a full-time undergraduate enrollment of approximately 2200 students and is a mission-centered academic community. Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential function is to teach courses in statistics and mathematics. A typical course load is 12 credit hours per semester. Courses vary in number of credit hours, but the teaching load typically requires teaching 3-4 courses per semester. Field of specialization is open, although the course load will include some service courses which will include introductory statistics or precalculus. Preference will be given to candidates who are committed to teaching excellence in a liberal arts environment and to engaging undergraduate students in research. Additional responsibilities include engagement in and service to the department, college, and community. The candidate should expect to remain active in scholarship and hold broad teaching interests.

Education

A Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field, such as applied mathematics, mathematics education, or data science.

Experience
