Job Description: The Youth Camp Instructor is responsible for providing comprehensive instruction and guidance to youth in the areas of employment, career development, and experiential learning. In addition to conducting classes and articulating the curriculum, the specialist will facilitate on-site field trips and work experience opportunities for students, fostering practical skills development and real-world exposure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct classes: Lead instructional sessions and deliver engaging lessons on topics related to employment readiness, job search skills, career exploration, and professional development.
- Articulate curriculum: Clearly communicate the course content, learning objectives, and expectations to students, ensuring they understand the material being taught.
- Facilitate on-site field trips: Organize and coordinate field trips to local businesses, industries, and community organizations, providing students with firsthand exposure to various work environments and career pathways.
- Engage students through interactive strategies: Utilize active learning techniques, group discussions, hands-on activities, and simulations to actively involve students, enhance their understanding, and promote critical thinking.
- Provide individualized guidance: Offer personalized guidance and support to students, helping them identify their strengths, interests, and career goals, and assisting in developing personalized career plans.
- Job search support: Teach students essential job search skills, including resume writing, interview preparation, networking, and job application strategies, tailored to real-world scenarios and industry expectations.
- Foster employability skills: Develop students' employability skills, such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, and professional etiquette, through interactive exercises and experiential learning opportunities.
- Monitor progress: In charge of overseeing the educational development of students enrolled in exceptional education programs, such as gifted students and those with disabilities, while adhering to the Teacher Professional Expectations outlined in the School Board Policy.
