The Business Relationship Manager (BRM) plays a critical role in bridging the gap between the Firm's business needs and IT capabilities. This individual is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and documenting business and system processes to streamline operations and improve efficiency. By developing strong relationships across the organization, the BRM ensures that technology solutions align with the Firm's strategic goals, providing insights and driving innovation. This role requires a collaborative, detail-oriented professional with a deep understanding of business processes and the ability to transform them into actionable technology solutions.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Builds and maintains strong partnerships with key stakeholders, including attorneys, administrative staff, and professional teams, to understand business needs, strategies, and priorities.
- Serves as the primary liaison between the IT department and the Firm's business units to align technology initiatives with organizational goals.
- Facilitates regular discussions to identify opportunities for IT to deliver value through innovation, process improvement, or enhanced capabilities.
- Ensures end-user satisfaction by translating business needs into IT deliverables and maintaining open lines of communication throughout projects.
- Conducts in-depth analysis of business processes, data flows, and system landscapes, identifying inefficiencies and recommending streamlined solutions.
- Documents current and future-state processes, develop functional and technical requirements and create workflows to support project execution.
- Drives process improvement initiatives to eliminate system complexities, improve user experience, and increase operational efficiency.
- Leads and facilitates workshops and meetings to gather requirements, identify gaps, and develops consensus among stakeholders.
- Oversees the requirements gathering, assessment development, and documentation of functional and technical specifications for projects.
- Supports the Firm's change management initiatives, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems, tools, or processes.
- Assists in creating user training materials and conducting training sessions for end-users and technical teams.
- Develops a comprehensive understanding of the Firm's key applications, including legal practice management systems, document management systems, timekeeping tools, and collaboration platforms.
- Maintains standard operating procedures, user manuals, and documentation for application systems and workflows.
- Acts as a key contributor in developing a unified application landscape to promote data consistency, integration, and alignment with business objectives.
KEY COMPETENCIES

Knowledge of the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project management principles.

Strong interpersonal skills to foster collaboration and build consensus among diverse teams.
Experience in change management, particularly in implementing new systems or processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or 5 years of equivalent work experience in IT and business/industry roles. Minimum of 5 years of experience in business analysis, project management, or business relationship management. Demonstrated experience with business process analysis and improvement. Familiarity with legal technology platforms, including iManage, Aderant, Intapp, or similar systems, is a plus.
