About the Role:
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing procurement activities, maintaining supplier relationships, and ensuring on-time material deliveries to support production needs. Your expertise in analyzing project requirements, negotiating pricing, and utilizing procurement systems will be key to our success.
What You’ll Do:
- Procurement & Vendor Management
- Coordinate with vendors on pricing, availability, freight costs, and delivery schedules
- Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships while ensuring compliance with company ethics policies
- Expedite deliveries and coordinate vendor pickups to meet production schedules
- Resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs) and proactively prevent recurring issues
- Inventory & Material Planning
- Review project Bills of Materials (BOMs) to determine purchasing needs
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels for stock items, including plate and tubing
- Work with Quality Control to document and address non-conforming goods or services
- Operational Efficiency & Compliance
- Utilize the PMX system for procurement tasks and reporting
- Prepare and review purchase orders and bid requests, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies
- Review drawings and BOMs for errors and request change orders from Engineering
- Communicate material delivery status during weekly production meetings
What Makes You Stand Out:
✔ Analytical & Mathematical Skills: Strong understanding of algebra, trigonometry, and geometry for procurement calculations.
✔ Industry Experience: Prior purchasing experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or machine shops is preferred.
✔ Tech Proficiency: Skilled in MS Excel, email-based communication, and procurement software (PMX system experience a plus).
✔ Detail-Oriented: Ability to review technical documents, identify discrepancies, and manage multiple priorities efficiently.
✔ Team Player: Strong collaboration skills to work across departments, including engineering, production, and quality control.✔ Problem-Solving Mindset: Experience with nesting materials and cost optimization is a plus.
