Bennington College welcomes applications for a Multicultural and Diversity (Clinical Therapist) Fellow to join the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) team. This full-time, licensed-eligible mental health provider will deliver therapeutic services, promote student wellbeing, and engage with the diverse student body. The Fellow will receive advanced training and professional development, emphasizing anti-racism, equity, and cultural humility. They will collaborate with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Deputy Chief Diversity Officer on anti-racism strategies. Responsibilities include individual and group therapy, crisis intervention, and campus outreach. The position aims to enhance the Fellow's skills in supporting BIPOC and marginalized students. The Fellow reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or related field.

  • Actively pursuing licensure as a Licensed Psychologist, Clinical Professional Counselor (LPC, LGPC, LCPC, LMHC), Clinical Social Worker (LMSW, LCSW), Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) in Vermont.

  • Technological proficiency, especially with electronic medical records, clinical documentation, and telehealth platforms, is a plus.

  • Experience serving underserved or marginalized populations, addressing equity and diversity through culturally-informed counseling, group work, or outreach.

  • Strong understanding of how culture, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, and socio-economic class impact student experiences, and the ability to incorporate this into clinical practice.

  • Ability to collaborate within clinical and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Willingness to assess and respond to mental health crises, and work effectively with ancillary personnel, including emergency room staff, parents, and treatment teams.

This is a one-year fellowship appointment with the potential for additional employment opportunities. The position primarily requires in-person, on-campus work during academic terms, with limited hybrid/remote opportunities. The position requires successful completion and acceptable results of a background check.
