High School Student Support Counselor
General Description of Position
The Student Support Counselor will support the mission, vision and strategic goals of Bentonville Schools by providing leadership and expertise in the student counseling and guidance programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of building advisory programs
- Provide individual and small group therapeutic counseling services for high risk students as identified
- Refer students to appropriate resources in the school and community as appropriate
- Facilitate student support groups
- Provide risk screening as needed
- Assist in planning appropriate intervention strategies to alter unacceptable student behavior
- Provide training and consultation as needed to support building advisory programs
- Provide effective communication to supervisors, staff and patrons regarding the student support program
- Maintain accurate individual and group support records
- Organize and provide staff development in the areas of student support and assisting at-risk students
- Serve on building level Threat Assessment Team
