Job Summary:
We need a skilled and experienced Machine Safety Engineer to design, develop, and implement safeguarding solutions for machinery and equipment within our manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical safety systems, along with in-depth knowledge of PLC programming and zero access safety protocols. Have relevant experience in safety standards and regulations such as OSHA. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the safety of all machinery operations and compliance with safety regulations

Key Responsibilities:
Design and Development of Safety Guards: Lead the design, development, and implementation of machine guards and safety systems for manufacturing equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
Mechanical and Electrical Integration: Apply both mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge to design and implement integrated safety solutions that address both physical and electrical hazards in machinery.
Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and safety audits for machinery and equipment to identify potential hazards and design appropriate protective measures.
Zero Access Safety Standards: Ensure the enforcement of zero access safety standards by maintaining and improving lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and interlocking systems.
Collaboration & Documentation: Create detailed records of machine guarding designs, PLC programs, and safety audits. Work with cross-functional teams to effectively integrate safety guards into existing new machinery.
Training and Support: Train respective teams in the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment. Offer technical support for troubleshooting and resolving safety-related issues.
Project Management:
• Develop project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
• Track project progress, identify potential risks, and resolve issues to deliver projects on time.
• Prepare and present regular project updates to senior management, providing status reports, budget updates, and risk assessments.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in electromechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. Relevant certifications in safety or machine design are a plus.
Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine guarding and safety system design.
• Proven experience in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, etc.).
• Experience with zero access safety protocols and lockout/tagout (LOTO) systems.
• Experience with risk assessment and safety audits is highly preferred.
• Familiarity with safety standards and regulations, including OSHA, ANSI, ISO, and NFPA.
• Minimum of 3 years of project management experience developing project plans and managing timelines, budgets, and resources.
Technical Skills:
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar) for machine guarding.
• Experience with safety control systems (e.g., interlocks, E-stop circuits, safety sensors).
• Strong problem-solving skills, with an analytical approach to technical challenges.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
