Floater/Bus Monitor
FLSA: Non-exempt/Hourly
Position Purpose:
The Floater/Bus Monitor is responsible for assisting bus drivers in providing on-going and emergency support to children while riding, loading, and unloading the school bus to ensure the safety of all passengers.
Bus Monitor Responsibilities:
- Seat children safely using seat belts, car seats or wheel chair restraints, etc.
- Maintain transportation records/forms.
- Assist bus driver with the cleanliness of the inside of the bus.
- Monitor and manage the behavior of the children on the bus.
- Train to provide child supervision skills, conflict management with parents, and basic trauma/natural disaster training including CPR certification.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assign station and service areas.
- Help teachers to prepare for departure including putting on coats and gathering each children belongings.
- Communicate effectively with families.
- Assist with bus evacuations.

Knowledge/Skills/Experience Required
- GED/High School Diploma
- Valid Driver License
- Some experience working with children
Physical/Mental Abilities and processes
- Ability to visually assess children’s health and behaviors and make frequent significant decisions to assure their health and safety.
- `Ability to apply developmentally appropriate practices to young children in a school bus setting.
- Frequent kneeling, bending at waist and neck, and sitting on floor also frequent getting up and down from seat to assist children on bus and in classroom.
- Occasionally lifting (up to 50 lbs.) in classroom setting and assisting children into seats on the bus and the ability to carry a child in an emergency situation out of a bus to a safe area.
- Occasional climbing to enter and exit a bus and sitting throughout bus route.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $10.00 per hour

- Monday to Friday
