SUMMARY
Bering Straits Development Co., a subsidiary of Bering Straits Native Corporation, is currently seeking a qualified Coffee Shop Barista for full-time or part-time work in Nome, Alaska. As barista, the candidate hired will operate daily coffee shop duties, take orders, make drinks, serve food items, clean, maintain standards and ensure stock. The applicant should excel in outstanding customer service, collaborating as a team, communication, as well as being able to operate point of sale system and handle cash.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Taking client orders and receiving payment.
- Grind and brew coffee providing well-presented beverages.
- Develop expert knowledge of coffee and maintain consistency and attention to detail.
- Collaborate with all team members.
- Maintaining a clean and sanitized shop environment while following health and safety guidelines.
- Operate point of sale system and contribute to establishments sales.
- Punctual and maintaining consistent attendance.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during peak business hours.
- Perform additional tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the establishment.

- Ability to work variable hours such as early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
NECESSARY PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Individual will be required to stand for extended periods of time and push or pull heavy equipment/supplies. In addition, squatting, kneeling, sitting, bending, reaching and climbing are also required. May lift of push up to 50lbs, such as freight, coffee supplies, boxes, etc.
DOT COVERED/SAFETY-SENSITIVE ROLE REQUIREMENTS
- This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work Environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be borne by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The job is performed in a coffee shop setting with exposure to hot liquids and requires extensive use of coffee and espresso machinery. Exposure to hot water and cleaning chemicals or solvents. Occasional use of computer, keyboard, mouse and telephone system. The work described herein is primarily in a modern coffee shop setting
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- No supervisory responsibilities.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS
As a condition of employment, you will be required to pass a pre-employment drug screening and have acceptable background check results. If applicable to the contract, you must also obtain the appropriate clearance levels required and be able to obtain access to military installations.
