We are actively looking for a Sales Manager to join our dynamic hotel management team at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel in Asbury Park, NJ. In your capacity as Sales Manager, you will be responsible for actively soliciting new business for the hotel within a specified market(s) while also partnering with the operations team to ensure top-notch service throughout the entirety of the guest experience.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prospect for and find new sales accounts and clients.
- Manages both group and transient bookings and accounts.
- Respond to all sales inquiries in a timely manner.
- Generate proposals and price quotations and manage efforts to secure business for specified market.
- Attend events, conferences, and trade shows related to developing business.
- Develop and maintain a base of accounts and clients in both group and transient business.
- Is knowledgeable in local and national markets and accounts.
- Deliver excellent customer service in an efficient manner.
- Manages sales activities for specified markets and ensures business is turned over promptly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery in accordance with brand standards.
- Negotiate contracts ensuring all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and actively up-sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue.
- Achieve revenue target and market share set forth by the Director of Sales.
- Achieve weekly activity goals, including prospecting, sites and entertaining outside sales calls.
- Maintain flexibility to travel up to 20% of the year to visit trade shows and complete out of area sales calls.
- Conducts tours and sites of hotel for potential clients and bookings.
- Answers phones and emails in a timely manner and in accordance with the hotel’s standards.
- Conduct accurate and timely reporting according to weekly, monthly and annual deadlines.
- Maintain accurate filing, record keeping and data entry.
- Communicates effectively with the front office and operations teams to ensure proper and top level execution of transient and group stays.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality with all employer/vendor information.
- Maintain professional appearance and uniform standards.
- Maintain a positive and professional relationship with clients.
- Develop and maintain positive communication and teamwork with all co-workers and supervisors.
- Follow all policies and procedures put forth by the Hotel.
- Other duties reasonably related to the role, as may be assigned by management from time to time.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field
- 2-3 years of experience in sales, specifically in the hotel and/or hospitality sector
- Experience as a sales manager or a related equivalent, preferred
- Must possess the ability to read and write in English proficiently
- Must possess excellent customer service skills, a positive attitude, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure
- Demonstrated knowledge of hotel and competitive market, a must
- Ability to apply logical thinking and understanding to carry out written and oral instructions
- Ability to address and solve problems involving wide range of operational issues
