Responsibilities
The Senior Underwriter role at BCS is a production role responsibl e for evaluating and assessing excess casualty construction risks. This position requires a deep understanding of underwriting principles, risk analysis, and the ability to make sound decisions in complex situations. The Senior Underwriter will work closely with brokers, agents, and other internal stakeholders to manage and optimize the company's portfolio of risks. The individual in this role will also mentor and support junior underwriters, ensuring best practices and consistency across the team. The role will require an in-depth knowledge and understanding of BCS’s underwriting goals, processes, procedures, systems & data as well as understanding how these items interact with other departments.

- Accountable for the business results for assigned brokers.
- Has the ability to anticipate market changes and strategically react to enhance the company’s competitive advantages.
- Collaborating with underwriting management, assumes accountability for the oversight and progression of underwriting product projects to achieve desired company business objectives.
- Regularly reviews and manages the product set (feature/functionality) for appropriateness of marketing strategy, market competitiveness, customer experience, regulatory compliance, risk management, as well as efficiency of performance.
- Researches potential new products that enhance BCS’s overall strategic positioning.
- Collaborates and communicates with all departments including Claims, Finance, Technology and Actuary to enhance BCS’s overall strategic positioning.
- Provides training and support as a technical underwriting resource.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Extensive experience with commercial lines product coverage form verbiage and filings.
- Commercial underwriting leadership experience.
- Multi-line experience with all commercial lines of business and an in-depth knowledge of commercial lines insurance programs and product; including Property, General Liability, Automobile, Umbrella, and Workers Compensation.
- Strong background using data analysis to guide underwriting philosophy and decisions.
- Project Management experience a plus.
- Alternative risk/large account products a plus.
- Build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication.
- Completion of or working toward CPCU, AU or similar designations.
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

- Base Salary Range: $90,000 – $159,000
- Eligible to participate in annual discretionary bonus.
