Responsibilities
The Underwriting Assistant position provides a variety of administrative supports to the underwriting department. The position provides functional, and systems support to underwriters and offers operational assistance
Underwriting Support
- Assist with basic tasks related to new business submissions and renewals.
- Review applications for completeness and obtain missing information.
- Enter data into underwriting systems accurately and efficiently as needed.
- Maintain and update underwriting files and records under the supervision and direction of underwriter.
- Provide basic support to agents, including answering routine questions and resolving minor issues.
- Communicate with internal teams and agents to gather necessary information.
- Order and review MVR’s, Opterix, BUR, or other outside materials as instructed.
- Assist with the processing of new business, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals.
- Follow specific instructions from underwriters and managers.
- Handle routine inquiries from agents and other stakeholders.
Additional Duties
- Help prepare proposals for agents under supervision.
- Research to resolve criticisms and other policy issues.
- Set up quote requests, endorsement requests, and issuance by Operations team.
- Perform general administrative tasks as assigned by underwriters or managers.
- Participate in training programs to develop underwriting knowledge and skills.
- Assist senior underwriting assistants with more complex tasks as part of their development.
May perform other functions as assigned

Education
High school diploma or equivalent
