Position Summary
The Certified Recovery Support Specialist is a vital part of the Integrated Behavioral Health initiative, the Certified Recovery Support Specialist works from the perspective of "having been there." Through their lived experience with recovery, they lend unique insight into substance abuse and what makes recovery possible. The specialist will provide peer support for clients, patients and advocates, and assists in their recovery and independence.
Job Description
- · The ability to establish rapport quickly and to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, and individuals identified by patient as part of their recovery team.
- · The ability to function effectively as a member of a professional team that includes: patients, family members, drug &alcohol, behavioral health and primary care providers, and other treatment team members as identified by patient.
- · Assist the patient to identify and prioritize strengths and needs, using various techniques that engage individual to self-disclose.
- · The ability to gather behavioral data, bio-psychosocial information, and required documentation from patients; and communicate findings to onsite behavioral health and primary care providers.
- · Ensure patients are educated on advantages, disadvantages, side effects of Suboxone and Vivitrol prior to participating in BCHC’s MAT program and are informed of signs/symptoms of overdose/managing withdrawal symptoms prior to Suboxone induction or being given Vivitrol.
- · The ability to provide linkage for drug & alcohol counseling services at all levels (detox, inpatient, outpatient, etc.).
- · Actively identify and support linkage to community resources (communities in recover, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the patients’ goals and interest.
- · The ability to monitor and verify that patients are attending drug and alcohol treatment, following personal goals for recovery, and keeping scheduled appointments.
- · The ability to use the electronic medical record to support and improve integrated healthcare. To ensure efficient and effective healthcare services documentation in the electronic medical record will be completed with 24 hours of encounter with patient.
- · The ability to safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality with respect to communication, documentation, and data.
- · The ability to remove phone messages during working hours from Medication Assistance Treatment (MAT) line. All calls should be returned within 2 hours of message being left.
- · The ability to assist patients in developing personal goals for recovery while supporting patients on maintaining sobriety.
- · Other duties as required.
