RCS currently focuses its efforts on making an impact in the underserved community, connecting individuals to the resources they need for their recovery.
Position Summary
The Recovery Support Specialist is a critical part of the recovery journey for our participants because they work from the perspective of having been there, walking alongside each participant as a peer. Through their lived experience with recovery, they lend unique insight into substance abuse and what makes recovery possible. The Recovery Support Specialist or Coach will provide peer support for our participants to assist in their recovery and independence.
Job Description
- Obtain Certified Recovery Specialist designation from PA within 12 months of hire date if not already certified.
- Build rapport and communicate effectively with participants, their family members, and individuals identified by participant as part of their recovery team.
- Assist participants in developing personal goals for recovery while supporting participants in maintaining sobriety.
- Assist the participant to identify and prioritize strengths and needs, using various techniques that engage individual to self-disclose.
- Provide linkage to multiple community resources to best equip the participants with their needs.
- Use an electronic health record system to support the progress for each participant. Documentation must be completed timely after an encounter with a participant.
- Safeguard patient privacy and confidentiality with respect to communication, documentation, and data while adhering to HIPPA.
- Work effectively as a member of a professional team.
- Other duties as required.
