Trail Crew Manager Location: Thunder Mountain Bike Park, Charlemont, MA
Pay Rate: Hourly- $22- $23 Position begins in early April 2025
Overview:Thunder Mountain Bike Park is seeking a dedicated and experienced Trail Crew Manager to lead the team in building and maintaining our renowned trails. In this role, you'll be joining the management team with the focus of leading the crew on the hill and being the vital link between the bird's eye view and shovels in the dirt. We're looking for strong leadership and communication, big picture thinking, and passion for trails and dirt work. If you have experience digging trails and the leadership skills to guide and inspire a crew, we'd love to hear from you.
Applicants with experience operating machinery are especially desirable and may qualify for higher compensation.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the Trail Crew: Supervise the daily operations of the Trail Crew, make and implement work plans with Trail Crew Supervisors. Interview and hire crew members, schedule staff, track and manage payroll, maintain daily logs, and orient new employees.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Serve as the key communicator between the Trail Crew, its supervisors, Maintenance, Bike Patrol, and bike park management. You are responsible making sure the teams are aligned on park goals and trail needs.
- Strategic Planning: Work with the team to plan out daily, weekly, and seasonal goals, ensuring resources and manpower are used effectively.
- Safety and Best Practices: Lead by example in ensuring safety standards are met, and that trail work and equipment operation is done to the highest professional standard.
- Report and Communicate: Keep park management informed of progress, trail conditions, and any issues that may arise, ensuring alignment on priorities. Build and maintain trails to best serve the needs of our guests.
What We're Looking For:
- Leadership: You're an experienced leader with exceptional communication skills. You can effectively coordinate and support the crew while handling any challenges that come up.
- Problem-Solving Skills: You're able to think on your feet and make decisions quickly, ensuring the crew remains on task, meets objectives, and builds terrain for the intended riders.
- Technical Skills: You have downhill mountain biking trail design and building experience. You are an expert rider. Experience as a heavy equipment operator is a plus.
- Commitment: Availability to work from April-November, with flexibility as needed for park events or weather-related delays.
