Job Summary
To assist the Directors & Clinical Managers of the Acute Care Departments by performing clerical, scheduling and related duties. The Assistant is required to have excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills and must be able to independently handle a variety of tasks, make judgements as appropriate and organize and streamline the flow of work. This position requires self-motivation and the ability to initiate correspondence, coordinate multiple projects, work independently, problem solve and organize and process a large volume in an efficient and timely manner.
Experience
- A minimum of three years of secretarial or office management experience and fluency in word processing and other computer applications preferred.
Education
- High School graduate required, associates degree preferred.
- Successful completion of courses in business and/or office procedures.
Additional Requirements
- Demonstrated typing skills of 50-60 words per minute.
- Demonstrated skill using correct sentence structure, spelling and grammar.
- Ability to work effectively with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to handle phone calls in a manner appropriate to a business setting.
- Ability to work cooperatively with a variety of hospital employees and departments.
- Ability to conduct positive interactions with patients, the public and other members of the healthcare team.
- Demonstrated ability to handle several tasks at once while remaining calm under pressure.
- Evidence of dependability in maintaining a work schedule.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Familiarity with the regulatory systems and standards including Joint Commission, DPH, HIPAA and CMS.
- Proficiency in typing, filing, Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Proficiency in Meditech, ANSOS, TQI, Procurement Suite, Midas, & Healthstream.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
