The Activity Director has the responsibility to oversee the quality of life for resident engagement. The Activity Director serves as a part of the management team to ensure policies and procedures are understood, trained, and implemented. The Activity Director hires, trains and manages Assistants to ensure all program expectations are in place and all customers involved have quality of life and are satisfied.
Qualifications for Director of Activities:
Must be able to read, write and speak English
Must have high school diploma or equivalent
Previous experience and demonstrated interest in working with seniors preferred
Must be able to work hours/rotation as described above
Responsibilities for Director of Activities :
- Participates in annual resident satisfaction survey initiatives and addresses resident complaints and grievances.
- Negotiates and manages community contracts for staffing, contract labor, vendors and entertainers.
- Participates in the review of individual resident’s service plans and regularly documents progress.
- develops and carries out recreational programs, group activities, special entertainment, and holiday events to meet the needs of residents
- Supports, encourages, and motivates residents to attend activities

Transports residents to and from activities as needed
Facilitates the activity and is always aware of all residents
Cleans up after each activity and readies for the next activity
Assembles, dismantles, and stores equipment and supplies used in the recreation program
Communicates with families as necessary and encourages their involvement
