Retail Sales Associate/Customer Service Representative

If you are a personable and knowledgeable individual with experience in residential construction, electrical, & plumbing (or just one or two of these) who is interested in a rewarding sales career with an established family-owned company, join the Bernard Building Center sales team today! We are looking for a Sales Representative for our Sales Floor and Paint Department. This is an hourly commission position.

Responsibilities include:

• Excellent communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service
• Assist customers with their project by offering helpful advice on building, electrical, plumbing, etc.
• Acknowledge customers and inquire about a customer's project and provide a solution.
• Communicating professionally in person and by phone
• Develop ongoing and new relationships with customers
• Maintain a professional image of the company
• Emphasizing product/service features and benefits of Bernard Building Center
• Helping our buyers to develop, and learning about new products when possible
• Building and fostering a network of referrals to create new opportunities for sales growth
• Following up with customers regarding potential projects
• Actively managing your schedule and time to adequately service our customers
• Assist in other departments or with other job duties as assigned by the manager

Qualifications:

• Strong communication and customer service skills to effectively interact with customers and team members
• Ability to assist customers with one or more of the following areas: building, construction, electrical, and plumbing.
• Proficiency in retail sales and ability to conduct product demos to showcase features and benefits to customers
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers
• Basic math skills for accurate transactions
• Experience with cash registers and POS systems
• Prior experience in customer service, upselling, and merchandising in a retail environment
• Excellent organizational skills to maintain a tidy and appealing sales floor

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
