This position is for the 2025-2026 school year!
BMS is looking for a caring, compassionate, student centered individual to join our team. This individual needs to be organized, flexible, a team player and willing to support the needs of all students at BMS. We are looking for someone with experience with children with special needs including emotional behavior disorders. This individual will be able to help students to engage in their learning experiences. We believe that creating a positive, loving environment for every student, every day, will create a legacy of excellence in our community and in their future.
The position is 6.5 hours per day and 183 days per year.
170 student instructional days, 4 paid holidays, 7 planning days, 2 extended days
Contracted days will be adjusted depending upon start date.

- Must have 48 semester hours, an Associates Degree or have a high school diploma or equivalent and have passed the paraeducator exam and provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.
New employees to the district may bring in up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. (NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the applicant hired to submit the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer to complete and return to HR.)
Salary will be based on the 2025-2026 salary schedule once the Board approves.
2024-2025 Payscale
Step 0: $15.59 per hour
Step 10: $19.19 per hour
Although Classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks. This position is considered a ten month employee on the pay schedule. 4 paychecks will be paid at the end of June.
