JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Berry College Elementary and Middle School invites applications for a Library Media and Educational Technology Teacher for grades K-8. This is a 10-month, part-time hourly position (20 to 24 hours per week) serving July-May. The Media Specialist should have a vision for how information and technology can support teachers in promoting literacy, digital citizenship, and inquiry-based learning experiences that incorporate multiple literacies. The Library Media and Educational Technology Teacher will oversee the Media Center and provide instruction to students (K-8) that supports the integration of the Georgia Standards of Excellence in Computer Science.
A master teacher leads each class with supervised college-student classroom assistants. BCEMS provides its students, Berry College, and the community with a model of a safe, child-centered learning environment in which students fully develop their potential through a curriculum designed to magnify the education of the head, heart, and hands. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and the Georgia Accrediting Commission accredit the school. It is a member of the International Association of Laboratory Schools and the Georgia Independent School Association.
Berry College students majoring in one of its Teacher Education programs have the unique opportunity to work, to observe, and to teach under the guidance of BCEMS teachers. Students complete assignments at BCEMS throughout their Teacher Education program and have opportunities to observe and receive feedback from supervising teachers and college professors while applying and practicing new and innovative teaching and instructional methods.
REQUIREMENTS:
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in school library media or a related field and three or more years of previous experience working in educational settings.
Minimum Requirements: Applicants for this position should have a bachelor's degree in school library media or a related field and three or more years of previous experience working in educational settings, and a provisional or professional certificate in the field of School Librarian.
