BerryDunn has partnered with Port Harbor Marine to find a boat loving Accounting Manager to complete their team. Port Harbor Marine is Northern New England’s largest and most well-respected boat dealer, with six employee-owned locations across Maine and Massachusetts. As the Accounting Manager, you’ll oversee financial operations across multiple locations, ensuring precision in accounting practices, compliance with GAAP, and strategic financial oversight of large marine assets. This role is perfect for a detail-driven leader with a strong grasp of revenue and expense recognition, corporate accounting, and ESOPs. Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting functions, from accounts payable/receivable to general ledger maintenance and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, PCI regulations, and internal financial policies.
- Manage accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and depreciation of high-value marine assets.
- Prepare and analyze consolidated financial statements for multiple locations, providing insights to leadership.
- Lead corporate accounting initiatives, including Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs).
- Coordinate external audits and ensure seamless financial compliance.
- Mentor and develop a high-performing accounting team.
- Identify trends and opportunities to enhance profitability and cost management.
- Work closely with each location and the leadership team
Qualifications
- BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and 4 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in leadership (marine industry experience is a plus but not required).
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, revenue recognition, large asset depreciation, and accrual accounting.
- Experience with corporate accounting, ESOPs, and PCI compliance.
- Ability to manage large balance sheets and multiple P&Ls with confidence.
- Tech-savvy with dealer management software, ERP systems, and advanced Excel skills
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
