Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented, and hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations, drive process improvements, and collaborate cross-functionally with project management, estimating, and leadership teams. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with internal accounting policies, state and federal regulations, and maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records. The ideal candidate must be familiar with office systems, contracts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, and the general ledger. Additionally, this role oversees direct supervision of assigned employees in the Accounting Department, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees, as well as planning, assigning, and directing work.

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage all daily accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, and general ledger maintenance and process AP/AR when necessary.
  • Monitor daily cash flow, ensuring adequate liquidity for operations and track and manage collections to ensure compliance with lien requirements.
  • Manage weekly and monthly general ledger posting and reconciliations including payroll, fixed assets, cash, and debt.
  • Maintain and enhance the job cost management system, working closely with the Estimating and Project Management teams to ensure accurate project costing.
  • Track construction project progress including WIP schedule and provide profitability data and analysis to the Project Management team monthly.
  • Lead internal audits and coordinate with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts by collaborating with internal stakeholders including CFO and owners.
  • Implement, monitor, and adhere to company accounting policies and procedures ensuring efficient and effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and data integrity.
  • Follow up and manage any issues, problems, or discrepancies.
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP, as well as compliance with industry-specific financial regulations, including lien waivers, certified payroll reporting, and tax obligations as applicable.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Assess, recommend, and oversee implementation of accounting software solutions to enhance financial reporting efficiency and integration with operational systems.
  • Stay updated on financial regulations and ensure the company's compliance with local, state, and federal laws.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management to support strategic decision-making.
  • Perform other tasks assigned to support the organization's financial health and operational efficiency and support new opportunities and changes as the business grows.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience: 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within construction, manufacturing, or related industries.
  • Supervisory Experience: 2 years’ experience in leading and managing an accounting team.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft 365 is required; experience with ERP systems such as Sage, Procore, and TimberScan is highly preferred. Ability to learn new systems.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and relevant state and federal regulations.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong team player with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs and priorities.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $85,000.00 per year
