Pay is commensurate with experience within a range of $18.75 - $23.00 per hour. Full time, non-exempt, benefits eligible. Responsibilities: The primary responsibility of the full-time Behavioral Health Specialist (BHS)will be to provide a range of community-based services to specified youth and their families. Specific duties include: but not limited to:

  • providing services as a member of full-time and part-time pool of BHS staff, to be activated on an as-needed basis for a variety of community bases services.
  • assisting in developing curriculum and providing structured activities, including preparing for and leading Psychosocial/Respite Groups, including all day groups and summer groups and making sure clean up is completed after groups and help with cleaning group rooms between group sessions.
  • As a group leader, if the number of children/youths is less than expected, group leaders may reduce staff and still maintain proper staff/client ratio. As a group leader, supporting/prompting other staff who are helping with groups and/or providing attendant care to individuals during group.
  • maintaining a safe and productive environment during the time spent in attendance with the child/adolescent.
  • providing transportation to and from groups, various activities or appointments as indicated by the treatment plan or as instructed by the QMHP, which may include driving CFS van.
  • providing services in a variety of settings including, but not limited to, the child/adolescent's home, the school, CMHC or another community setting.
  • delivering reimbursable hours of service compliant with established standards.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances warrant.

Qualifications: The Behavioral Health Specialist position requirements include but not limited to:

  • 21years old; or a minimum of 19 years old and must be at least 3 years older that the children they are providing services for. Prefer some college education in social work, or related field, but not mandatory. Must have a High School diploma or GED.
  • ability to pass required security background checks.
  • reliable transportation, automobile insurance, and a valid, unrestricted driver's license.
  • experience in or knowledge of issues in working with severely emotionally disturbed youth and families is preferred.
  • prior computer experience and basic computer literacy.
  • must be able to achieve within one's first 6 months of employment a working competency in the management and use of the Center's electronic medical record (EMR) software as demonstrated by timely and accurate documentation of the clinical record.
  • flexibility in assigned working hours.
  • an energetic and positive approach to the rapidly evolving changes and challenges of a complex workplace.
