The Penguin Press imprint of Penguin Random House is seeking an Associate Editor to evaluate proposals, develop relationships with agents, and oversee the book production process for assigned titles from start to finish. This position also supports the Associate Publisher with editing. Penguin Press publishes elite authors including: Michael Pollan, Thomas E. The Associate Editor:
- Oversees the entire production process from negotiating the contract to editing the manuscript to coordinating between the author and various internal departments.
- Prepares documents including contract requests, profit and loss statements, production memos, book briefs, catalog copy, and jacket copy.
- Acts as in-house liaison between editorial and production, design, and managing editorial departments, as well as sales, marketing and publicity for specific titles.
- Evaluates book proposals and develops relationships with agents in order to attract new authors and acquire new projects.
