Responsibilities
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Regulatory Compliance and Permit Specialist to manage and oversee all aspects of Level 2/3/4 permit management and regulatory compliance for our cutting-edge vehicle operations. This role involves working on regulatory frameworks across state and federal levels. The successful candidate will act as the key person to communicate with internal teams, ensuring all operational processes meet stringent compliance standards. This position demands exceptional organizational skills, regulatory knowledge, and a proactive approach to risk management and compliance reporting.In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring adherence to permitting, safety, and reporting requirements for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle operations, while also fostering collaboration among cross-functional teams.Key ResponsibilitiesPermit Management:• Maintain, and renew Level 2/3/4 permits for all autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles in the fleet.• Continuously track permit expiration dates, renewal timelines, and new requirements to ensure uninterrupted compliance.• Maintain an accurate inventory of vehicles and drivers associated with permits, ensuring timely updates for vehicles added, removed, or modified.
Regulatory Reporting:• Collaborate internal with teams to submit event-based and routine reports to federal and state regulatory authorities.• Document and maintain compliance timelines for all required submissions, including incident reports, testing reports, and performance updates.• Audit reports for accuracy and completeness, ensuring they meet all federal and state regulatory requirements.Insurance Management:• Oversee the renewal and maintenance of insurance coverage for each individual vehicle permit, ensuring alignment with all state insurance requirements.• Coordinate with insurers to provide documentation and updates required for permit renewals or changes.• Maintain comprehensive records of insurance certificates, policy terms, and claimsdocumentation.Training and Development:• Oversee the development, revision, and compliance tracking of training modules for all personnel involved in vehicle operations.• Ensure drivers, operators, and supporting staff complete all mandatory training and remain compliant with the latest standards.• Maintain detailed training records, including completion rates, certifications, and any required retraining programs.
Regulatory Updates and Compliance:• Proactively monitor and review all applicable state and federal regulatory changes related to Level 3/4 autonomous vehicle operations.• Analyze regulatory updates and their impact on operational processes, communicating changes clearly to relevant stakeholders.• Work closely with functional developers, engineers, and the legal team to ensure all operationalworkflows and systems align with updated regulations.
Collaboration and Communication:• Collaborate closely with internal teams to address compliance risks, liabilities, and contractual obligations.• Act as the communication bridge between regulatory bodies and internal teams, ensuring a clear and unified approach to compliance.• Facilitate periodic compliance meetings with cross-functional teams to discuss regulatory updates, risks, and process improvements.
Qualifications
Required:• Strong knowledge and proven experience working on Level 2/3/4 systems especially in the context of autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle operations.• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks at the state and federal levels, with a willingness to develop expertise in location-specific standards as needed.• Experience managing processes related to permits, including application, maintenance, and renewal.• Understanding of compliance reporting, such as incident management and routine documentation requirements.• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple regulatory and compliance tasks simultaneously.• Familiarity with tools for compliance tracking and project management, such as JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms.• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex compliance matters to diverse stakeholders.Preferred:• Strong knowledge and proven experience managing Level 2/3/4 permits and regulatory compliance, especially in the context of autonomous or semi-autonomous vehicle operations.• Industry Background: Previous experience in regulatory compliance, legal, or safety operations within the automotive, technology, or transportation industry.• Technical Expertise: Familiarity with autonomous vehicle systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), and emerging mobility technologies.• Risk Management: Experience working with risk mitigation strategies related to safety operations and regulatory audits.• Cross-functional Leadership: Proven ability to work with engineers, developers, legal teams, and external regulatory bodies.• Demonstrated Data/Analytics experience, Excel proficiency.• German language proficiency
