Job Summary: We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Material Purchasing Manager to oversee the procurement and management of materials required for production or operational processes. This role is key in ensuring that the right materials are sourced, at the right price, in a timely manner, while maintaining high quality and vendor relations. The ideal candidate will have experience the electrical construction industry, strong negotiation skills, a keen understanding of supply chain management, and the ability to work cross-functionally with production, finance, and other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management: Source and purchase materials, goods, and services required for electrical construction, ensuring quality standards and production schedules are met.
- Supplier Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate contracts, and resolve any issues that may arise with deliveries or quality.
- Inventory Control: Manage inventory levels to ensure materials are available when needed, while minimizing excess inventory or waste. This includes providing warehouse support as needed with scheduling deliveries and organization of inventory.
- Cost Management: Monitor and control purchasing costs, identify cost-saving opportunities, and collaborate with finance to establish budgets.
- Order Management: Ensure accurate order placements, track deliveries, and manage order schedules to prevent delays in production.
- Supplier Evaluation: Evaluate potential suppliers, manage the supplier selection process, and monitor supplier performance to ensure high standards.
- Compliance & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of material purchases, supplier contracts, and related documentation in compliance with company policies.
- Collaborate with Internal Teams: Work closely with Project Managers other departments and team members on multiple projects to align material procurement with operational needs.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed about market trends, pricing fluctuations, and new suppliers to make informed purchasing decisions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelors degree in a related field is desired but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or material management in the electrical construction industry is strongly desired.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and purchasing software as inventory management software.
- Experience with KOJO is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of supply chain and logistics operations.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced, noisy, warehouse environment at times
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
