Job Title: School Secretary
Reports to: Principal
Qualifications:
- College or business office experience
- Typing skills (Industry Standard)
- Computer skills, including knowledge of data base management.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Job Goal: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office's maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realize.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Receives and routes incoming mail.
- Keeps current student attendance data, student records, expulsion paperwork and makes appropriate reports to the Board of education in a timely manner.
- Receives and routes all incoming calls.
- Performs school bookkeeping tasks such as receiving/receipting monies collected, preparing vouchers, purchase orders, financial reports, keeping current books. (Based on school assignment)
- Assists in processing all changes and adjustments in student schedules.
- Greets visitors, ascertains nature of business, and conducts visitors to appropriate person.
- Uses computer skills in performing bookkeeping tasks, keeping student information (attendance, expulsion, etc.), and data base management.
- Composes and types of routine correspondence and statistical reports.
- Calls substitute teachers, makes monthly report to payroll department on employee absences. (Based on school assignment.)
- Performs such other office duties as may be assigned.
- Is regular in attendance and on task during working hours.
Terms of Employment: Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Salary in adherence and compliance with approved salary schedule.
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the Evaluation of Support Personnel.
