Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Inventory Specialist to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and finished goods within our co-packing facility. This role is responsible for monitoring inventory levels, maintaining precise records, and collaborating with warehouse, production, and planning teams to prevent discrepancies and improve inventory control processes. The ideal candidate is meticulous, proactive, and experienced in warehouse operations and ERP systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory & Material Management
- Ensure 100% inventory accuracy by conducting routine cycle counts, audits, and reconciliations for raw materials, packaging, ingredients, and finished goods.
- Accurately record all inventory transactions in the ERP/WMS system, ensuring real-time data integrity.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Monitor and report low stock levels, expired materials, and variances, ensuring timely reordering or adjustments.
- Conduct material tracing exercises to support compliance, quality control, and production planning.
Shipping & Receiving Support
- Assist in verifying inbound shipments for accuracy, ensuring all received materials aligned with purchase orders and packing lists.
- Maintain and oversee the dock schedule, ensuring timely receipt and staging of materials for production.
- Work closely with the warehouse team to ensure accurate staging, labeling, and tracking of materials from receipt to production use.
- Partner with planning teams to validate inventory allocations for outbound shipments.
Warehouse Operations & Compliance
- Ensure proper storage and rotation (FIFO/FEFO) practices to prevent inventory spoilage or obsolescence.
- Uphold GMP and 5S standards by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe inventory storage environment.
- Assist in the safe operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and warehouse equipment for material movement and replenishment.
- Support compliance efforts related to food safety, regulatory audits, and customer requirements.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Continuously analyze inventory trends to identify inefficiencies and propose process improvements.
- Collaborate with warehouse, planning, and production teams to ensure seamless material flow and prevent bottlenecks.
- Assist in training warehouse personnel in inventory handling procedures and system updates.
Qualifications & Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent (associate degree preferred).
2-4 years of experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or material handling within a manufacturing or co-packing environment.
Strong proficiency in ERP/WMS systems (NetSuite experience preferred).
Advanced skills in spreadsheets and documentation for tracking and reporting inventory metrics.
Ability to drive stand-up and reach forklifts.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
Comfortable working in varying temperature environments and capable of lifting to 40 lbs.
Availability for shift work, weekends, and overtime as needed.
