Position Overview:
The Legal Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting our attorneys and paralegals by handling administrative tasks, managing case files, and ensuring the efficient operation of the office. The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. This is a full-time, in-office position with room for growth within the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide administrative support to attorneys and paralegals, including scheduling meetings, appointments, and hearings.
- Answer phone calls, manage client communications, and direct inquiries as appropriate.
- Assist with case management, including organizing and maintaining client files and documents.
- Prepare and proofread correspondence, legal documents, and forms.
- Coordinate and track important case deadlines, ensuring timely filings and submissions.
- Assist in preparing for hearings, depositions, and trials by organizing exhibits and documentation.
- Handle office organization, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
- Assist with managing the office’s calendar and coordinating attorney schedules.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the legal team.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a legal assistant or in an administrative role, preferably within a litigation law firm.
- Strong organizational skills with an ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Familiarity with legal terminology and procedures (experience in personal injury, insurance bad faith, or employment law is a plus).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A proactive attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A professional and friendly demeanor, both in-person and over the phone.
