What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Assurance Manager position at Best Roofing?
PURPOSE:
• The Q/A manager ensures all Construction Managers, Crew Leaders (work with crew members) and Site Supervisors are maximizing safety, quality, and productivity through on-the-job and classroom learning sessions.
• Work with the Risk and Safety Department, and the Construction department to be the “eyes” on the roof to determine any problems that could potentially have ramifications with the completion of the quality of the job. This is after operations has been unable to resolve the situation.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct monthly JSA Inspection for all ongoing projects.
• Oversee quality assurance processes for all roofing projects to ensure adherence to company and manufacturer standards.
• Reports generated in IAuditor.
• Generate detailed quality assurance reports for internal and client use.
• Assist with the mitigation of all water damage as the result of a leak.
• Develop Crew Leaders and Site Supervisors: Visit each Construction Crew’s project site:
- Follow “Crew Leader Development Matrix” and develop team to the skills needed to be a great roofer
- Have a plan, share your plan, work your plan (Crew Leader in Training Module) (In SharePoint under Learning Team, Filed as Crew Leader Training)
• Facilitator of all Trade Training:
- Work with Construction Department Leadership & Career Development Leader to develop curriculum. Continuous On the Job Training (OJT)
- Hands on Trade Training (OJT) (Attendees: Crew Leaders, Crew Members, Site Supervisors, Construction Managers, Service Managers, Service Techs)
- Torch Training (Field and Details)
- Single Ply Training (Field and Details)
- Deck Preparation (Metal, Concrete, Wood, Tectum, Gypsum, Lightweight Concrete)
- Heat Weld/Single Ply
- Basic Sheet Metal
- Insulation attachment
- Rhino Bond
- Roof Drains
- Scuppers
- Drainage Crickets
- Classroom Training (Attendees: Crew Leaders, Site Supervisors, Construction Managers, Project Managers)

KEY RESULTS:
• Minimize Water Damage Cost. All crew leaders understand how to do a proper tie in and avoid damage claims
• Improve Labor Productivity
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• 7 years of progressive on-the roof experience (including single ply, modified, metal, and other common South Florida systems). Service work experience preferred.
• Proven exposure to manufacturer inspections and warranty processes.
• Ability and willingness to climb a ladder, access the roof, and be comfortable on the roof.
• Ability and willingness to use all roofing equipment and handle all roofing materials used within the industry.
• Familiarity with roofing industry standards (NRCA, ASTM, etc.) and building codes.
• Ability to teach and show proper roofing techniques.
• OSHA 10 certification required or ability to obtain certification.
• CERTA trainer certification required or ability to obtain certification.
• Ability to use technology including laptop/tablet devices, email, internet, etc.
• Valid driver’s license with satisfactory MVR.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
• Comfortable speaking in large group settings (10-20 individuals).
