What are the responsibilities and job description for the Staff Attorney, Self-Help Clinics position at Bet Tzedek Legal Services?
For over 50 years, Bet Tzedek Legal Services has provided high-quality, free legal services to Los Angeles’ most vulnerable residents. In that tradition, Bet Tzedek is seeking an attorney to join our Access to Justice Programs. The unit operates three distinct pro per clinics in the areas of : Elder Abuse Restraining Order Clinic, Probate, Conservatorship, and Decedents’ Estates. The individual in this position will serve as the lead Self-Help attorney primarily advancing the objectives of the Elder Abuse Restraining Order Clinic and working with the program’s Directing Attorney to ensure best self-help practices.
This position is eligible for Bet Tzedek Legal Services’ hybrid / remote workplace designation. While the primary workplace is Bet Tzedek’s offices, at the discretion of the immediate supervisor, the employee may be permitted to work remotely or may be required to work in other locations depending on workload / business obligations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES :
- Staff Bet Tzedek’s Elder Abuse Restraining Order Clinic.
- Conduct high volume of intake and document preparation for clinic services.
- Support the objectives of the Access to Justice Program Self Help Clinics.
- Help establish and maintain best practices for pro per services and related to clinic subject matter.
- Conduct trainings and outreach events on issues related to Access to Justice Programs for : community and government partners, and community members as needed (virtually and, to the extent appropriate and permissible, in-person).
- Engage with pro bono attorneys and volunteers to expand scale level of services provided.
- Actively collaborate with Development Staff to meet all relevant grant reporting requirements, including helping to compile and interpret data and draft narratives, and actively participate in donor meetings.
- Other assignments as deemed appropriate.
Salary :
72,495.22-$82,001.88 (DOE / DOQ)
