Job Summary:
This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position as a Nursing Clinical Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient flow of surgical patients from the preoperative and recovery phases through discharge or placement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, guide, and mentor PACU staff in managing surgical patients.
- Coordinate daily nursing activities using effective communication and leadership skills.
- Work collaboratively with anesthesia floor leader, nursing supervisor, and OR nursing clinical leader to optimize OR efficiency and throughput.
- Analyze staffing requirements, assign personnel, and call in replacements as needed.
- Reassign personnel, assist with evaluation, and resolve conflicts that may arise.
- Function as a resource person for surgical services issues involving nursing practice, standards, policy, and procedure.
- Communicate effectively with physician staff regarding patient care issues.
- Schedule and assess ANSOS, ensure adequate staffing, and communicate concerns to managers as needed.
- Participate in oversight of nursing orientation and hiring processes for new OR nursing personnel.
- Lead daily board huddles and assess weekly schedules.
- Monitor competency requirements and license needs of staff.
- Collaborate with Surgical Services Educator to identify educational needs and in-services.
- Participate in goal development for the Nursing Department.
- Attend training programs to improve skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required.
- Minimum three years' experience in the recovery room, with one year of supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience using MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
