Join Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) as the new Medical Director for the BILH Transfer Center. Reporting to the Chief Clinical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, you will collaborate with the Transfer Center nursing leader on clinical initiatives aimed at improving quality, safety, patient and physician satisfaction around interhospital transfers while managing costs and improving care coordination. This leader will provide physician support to the nursing leader overseeing all facets of bed management and patient flow.
Based in Charlestown, this position has a hybrid (remote and on-site) work arrangement with 2-3 days on-site.
Job Description :
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to :
- As the Transfer Center Medical Director, this individual will provide physician clinical leadership within the center to assure fidelity of clinical practice.
- In collaborative partnership with nursing leadership, this physician leader will add value in a multitude of ways including but not limited to policy, protocol and procedure, continuous quality improvement, patient care audits, process improvement, problem resolution and reform of individual physician behavior that is adverse to the objectives of the Transfer Center and BILH while acting as an advocate to support operations.
- Partner with BILH hospital and service line leaders to share transfer center activity, report on key performance metrics and address any issues related to quality or safety of patient care in transitions.
- Provide full medical oversight in cases where EMTALA regulations apply.
