Seasonal Reserve Police Officer: Summer 2025

Seasonal police officers are sworn, entry level, temporary police officers who function as a supplemental force in the State of Delaware. Seasonal officers are employed between the months of May and October or until the officer must return to school if necessary. This position is ideal for students to gain experience.

As a seasonal police officer you will, under the supervision of training officers, enforce all federal, state, and local laws and ordinances for the State of Delaware and the Town of Bethany Beach. You will conduct patrol on specific areas on foot and utilizing bicycles and perform any basic law enforcement duty as directed by supervisors. Most importantly you will help provide service of all types to the residents and patrons of the Town of Bethany Beach.

• Requirements:
• You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, be a US Citizen, earned a high school diploma/GED, have a valid driver’s license, be of sound morals and character and be free from any criminal arrest, DUI's or felony traffic arrest.

Must satisfactorily complete a written test, oral interview, polygraph, psychological examination, Doctor’s physical with drug screening, and a physical fitness test, passing weight and height standards. All testing is designed to hire the best applicant possible and is exactly what any full-time officer must complete before being hired. All testing is set up and supervised by the Bethany Beach Police Dept. Once you have completed all necessary testing you are eligible for selection for the seasonal officer position. These are very competitive positions and limited positions are available. Once hires have been made the testing process will end.

Must be available for and successfully complete The Bethany Beach Police Basic Seasonal Police Academy in May 2025.
