As a Youth Build Program Supervisor, you will be primarily responsible for the day to day management of the program while maintaining the vitality of YouthBuild program operations, supervision and professional development of support staff, and ongoing program evaluation to ensure that that the program and services meet and maintain a standard of excellence and students (ages 16-24) are provided with access to the skills they need to be successful members of their communities. This individual will also manage the partnership agreements with community partners and social enterprises, as well as maintaining the contract leases, renovation projects, and special project contracts.
This position is expected to function effectively with little supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead, supervise, and train the Vocational Trainers to ensure job expectations are met while supporting youth development;
- Plan and direct the major activities of the YouthBuild program, to include reviewing and maintaining contract leases and facility renovation projects;
- Supervise, manage, and collaborate to deliver program components of education, construction, construction, case management leadership, and job placement;
- Serve as an advocate for students to ensure their success and link them to community services and activities;
- Develop and maintain systems for monitoring program performance;
- Oversee the data collection process for the program’s effectiveness;
- Prepare program reports for grant purposes and internal utilization;
- Conduct on-going evaluations of program activities, outcomes, and qualitative improvements;
- Proactively solve problems with creative solutions;
- Manage social enterprise partnerships and maintain positive relationships with all contracted partners;
- Proactively promote the program to potential employers, and when needed develop presentations about YouthBuild to communicate externally;
- Meet with direct reports on a regular basis, while also assessing their job and career goals, or immediate work needs;
- Take lead on the selection, hiring, recognition, and performance management process for all direct reports;
- Complete other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s level degree in Social Work, Counseling, Community Development, or equivalent field of study from an accredited college require;
- Master’s level degree, preferred;
- At least three (3) years of experience leading and directing youth and/or workforce development programs;
- At least one (1) year of experience managing others and teams;
- Demonstrated knowledge of Social Enterprise, Community Development, and Innovation and Youth Development;
- Must be a self-starter and self-motivated with a desire and passion to make an impact to the surrounding community;
- Must possess an ability to learn from, establish rapport, and relate sensitively to multiracial and multicultural groups of young people and community leaders;
- Must possess a deep respect for the ideas and intelligence of traditionally underrepresented young adults;
- Excellent verbal and written communication with strong interpersonal skills;
- Excellent attention to detail and highly organized;
- Must be a dynamic leader with experience in maintaining organizational systems for tracking program information;
- Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office suite;
- Must be willing and able to work days, evenings, and weekends, as necessary;
- Must be 21 years old with a valid driver’s license with at least 3 years driving experience in the US to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurance coverage;
- Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
- Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitment.
