Assistant Professor of Religion – Tenure Track

RESPONSIBILITIES
AND EXPECTATIONS: These positions include a 24-credit annual teaching load. A portion of this course load will include interdisciplinary religious literacy courses and other core classes. The rest will include classes in the religion program such as Hebrew Bible, New Testament, World Religions, and Constructive Theology. The area of specialization is open; however, those with a demonstrated interest in women’s or gender studies, critical race theory, liberation theology, ecotheology, American religions, or science/technology and religion are strongly encouraged to apply.
Additional responsibilities will include continuing the collection of materials for curriculum assessment; advising students within the Religion major, especially regarding vocation; and a commitment to aiding the department and the college in recruitment. Familiarity with Lutheran Higher Education (ELCA) will be an asset, but it is not required.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Ph.D. is desired for the position, although ABD candidates will be considered. Demonstrated excellence in teaching and the ability to work with colleagues across disciplines is a priority.
SALARY: Contingent upon experience.
DEPARTMENT: This position is in the Humanities Division. The division offers Bachelor’s degrees in English, English Teaching, and Religion--and Minors in English, Religion, and Women’s & Gender Studies.
