Job Description Summary
The Department of Population Health seeks candidates of exceptional potential and emerging scholarship to enhance our research and educational portfolio by joining our faculty on the Wichita campus. This position is for 12-month, full-time appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
Located in the School of Medicine, the Department provides a robust, interdisciplinary environment in an academic medical center setting. With faculty on three campuses – Kansas City, Wichita, Salina – the Department is the academic home for nationally-ranked, accredited graduate educational programs leading to the MHSA and MPH, as well as the MSCR and PhD. We are committed to addressing rural and urban health inequities through strong partnerships with community organizations, government agencies and other parties in different communities- and across the care delivery continuum- across a rapidly growing, multicultural Midwest context. We seek faculty eager to build collaborations with our clinician colleagues at KU, community hospitals Via Christi and Wesley HCA, and social services organizations and other stakeholders in public health and healthcare.
Our faculty make meaningful contributions to all mission areas of the University: teaching, research scholarship, and service. Competitive candidates will have demonstrable content expertise and teaching capabilities. Work Experience
- Articulated commitment to interdisciplinary graduate teaching and mentoring in respective methods and areas of expertise.
- Potential for extramural funding via participation in recent grants and/or contracts, appropriate to rank.
- Record of scholarship in peer-reviewed publications, appropriate to rank.
Work Experience:
- Demonstratable research focus
- Evidence of principal investigator status.
- Evidence of effective teaching relevant to graduate level courses
- Experience supervising and mentoring doctoral students.
- Maintain an ongoing program of research and training, with external funding, appropriate to expertise.
- Collaborate with other faculty members via interdisciplinary research teams.
- Teach and participate in graduate courses and curriculum development.
- Participate in the intellectual life of the Department and School of Medicine, e.g. faculty and departmental committees and activities. Provide other service to the school, university, profession, and community, as appropriate.
