Position Summary:
The Fundraising & Development Director is responsible for leading, planning, and executing fundraising strategies to support the mission and growth of a faith-based, nonprofit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). This role involves cultivating donor relationships, securing major gifts, overseeing grant applications, and managing fundraising events. The ideal candidate will uphold the values of the Lutheran faith and demonstrate a passion for serving seniors in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including major gifts, annual giving, planned giving, and capital campaigns.
- Identify, cultivate, and steward donor relationships with individuals, churches, businesses, and foundations.
- Lead grant writing and research initiatives to secure funding from private and public sources.
- Organize fundraising events, donor recognition programs, and community engagement activities.
- Maintain donor database and ensure accurate recordkeeping and reporting.
- Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote fundraising initiatives.
- Engage with the Lutheran faith community to align fundraising efforts with mission and values.
- Prepare reports for leadership and the board of directors regarding fundraising progress.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit management, preferably in senior services, healthcare, or faith-based organizations.
- Proven track record of securing major gifts, grants, and meeting fundraising goals.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to engage donors at all levels.
- Experience with donor database software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, DonorPerfect).
- Knowledge of fundraising best practices, tax laws, and charitable giving regulations.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation is highly desirable.
- Training in Planned Giving and Capital Campaigns is a plus.
Faith & Mission Commitment:
- Understanding and appreciation of Lutheran values and the mission of faith-based senior care organizations.
- Willingness to work closely with Lutheran congregations, leadership, and community partners.
