JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title : Bus / Van Driver
Department / Division : Transportation
Shift : Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays approximately 5 hours per day.
General Summary :
The primary purpose of this position is to assist the residents to and from any necessary outside location. Such duties must be in accordance with federal, state and local standards, and policies and procedures that govern Bethany Lutheran Home.
Qualifications : Good driving record.
No record of abuse.
A valid drivers’ license with a commercial endorsement (C.D.L.).
One to three years bus driving experience.
Must be 25 years of age or older.
Essential Job Functions :
To deliver residents to and from appointments safely and on time.
To cooperate with activity coordinator in activity outings with residents.
To report problems to appropriate supervisor, ie. resident / family problems to charge nurse, vehicle problems to maintenance supervisor and other concerns to Transportation Coordinator.
To be available for errands as required.
To keep a log of miles driven and maintenance service for vehicle.
To keep vehicle clean inside and out.
To understand vehicle operation.
Abide by all local and state laws regarding vehicle operation.
Other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements :
- Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
Must be able to push, pull, move and / or lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to a minimum of 3ft.
Must be able to assist in the evacuation of residents in an emergency situation.
Must be able to kneel, stoop or bend to assist residents.
