Schedule: Full time day shift Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $30-35 per hour DOE

The Billing Clerk is responsible for functions associated with the agencys accounts receivable, including billing, management of AR, collections, and educating staff regarding requirements to successfully collect AR. Works closely with both the Executive Director of Home Health and Hospice and Director of Revenue.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works as a team member and backup with other billing staff to assure timely and accurate billing.
- Coordinate with Medical Records and Clinical Departments to ensure proper information has been input to allow for completion of the monthly billing.
- Acts as effective liaison with payors and the Intake department related to referrals, authorizations, and payments. Works collaboratively to ensure clear communication and efficient processes.
- Researches, collects, and coordinates any follow up documentation required by insurers.
- Produces monthly report of AR showing activity toward reducing aged balances. Contributes to required reporting activity to Medicare or for audit purposes.
- Maintain audit trails on all transactions. Maintains clear and complete account documentation in the EHR system whenever possible. Paper documentation is well-organized, complete, and easy-to-follow.
- Cross-trains with other billing staff and shares workload during volume peaks.
- Performs collection effort on all assigned payors.
- Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Good interpersonal communication skills.
- Good analytical and problem solving skills.
- Good knowledge of the accounting processes and specifically Accounts Receivable.
- Flexibility, adaptability, and initiative
Qualifications/Competencies
- At least 2 years of home health billing experience.
- Excellent working knowledge of primary home health diagnoses, related interventions and care protocols.
- Demonstrable working knowledge of Medicare and non-Medicare reimbursement requirements including eligibility for service, managed care and Veterans Administration pre-authorization processes, and Medicare/managed care outpatient therapy services requirements.
- Demonstrable experience with scheduling of patient services within specified discipline/frequency parameters.
- Demonstrable experience with optimizing full time and part time clinical staff supported by resources from outside staffing companies.
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications
