Responsibilities Include: Maintenance, construction, and repairs as follows:
- Development and operation of a sound and practical preventative maintenance program.
- Maintenance of safe operating practices and fire prevention maintenance, as well as development of new, improved, and more efficient and economical practices.
- Maintain a log sheet of power plant operations.
- Check and read all gauges, thermometers, water glass gauges on boilers, and thermometers in the cooler and freezer daily.
- Investigate mechanical breakdowns and failures of machinery to determine the cause and prevent recurrence by a preventative maintenance program.
- Maintain weather protection against plants for cold, floods, and fire protection.
- Analyze boiler water and condenser water for the prevention of scales and corrosion.
- Conduct studies and investigations to determine necessary steps to correct or improve operations and eliminate waste.
- Perform janitorial and minor maintenance tasks to maintain cleanliness and orderliness in assigned areas.
- Cleans walls as necessary, washing woodwork and windows.
- Removes old wax and dirt from floors and polishes with a power buffer.
- Cleans refrigerators, freezers, overhead pipes, radiators, etc.
- Checks the conditions of lights and fixtures and replaces bulbs as needed.
- Receive and distribute supplies and heavier items to designated areas.
- Performs minor maintenance tasks within capabilities to maintain continuity of operations.
- May keep outside premises clean, orderly, and groomed.
- Performs related tasks as assigned.
- Operation of a planned repair and construction program; motor power, air conditioning, heating, and minor building changes.
- Planning, estimation, and designing of jobs, including installation of new equipment.
- Supervise planning, drafting, estimating, inspections, and records of repair and construction.
- Maintenance of an adequate stock of miscellaneous supplies such as lamps, oil, grease, and various items used in making repairs such as packing, gaskets, solder, and chemicals.
- Repairing emergency breakdowns in the shortest time possible.
- Willingness to be on call and able to respond to maintenance emergencies.
