Compensation: $18.00 - $22.00/hour DOE
Position Summary:
The Chef Supervisor will enhance resident satisfaction by providing all residents quality food, efficient and professional service through accurate and sanitary means, and a clean and sanitary environment throughout the dining, kitchen, and service areas. Directly supervises the culinary and dish room staff. In the absence of the manager or team leader also supervises the daily activities of the servers. Along with the Manager, supervises, coaches, corrects and is responsible for team member’s compliance to the highest standards of personal appearance, uniform and work standards. Ensures compliance to department and regulatory policies.
Supervisor Duties:
- Leads the cooking process by directing and participating in preparing breakfast, lunch and dinner items using and maintaining recipes. Compiles production counts for forecasting to decrease food waste.
- In the absence of the manager, updates schedules for the dining and production staff within budgetary guidelines. Coordinates coverage for call offs or absences. Tracks attendance and addresses issues through verbal and written counseling.
- Makes sure that temperatures of all the hot and cold food items are taken and recorded.
- Ensures cost containment through correct production, portioning, and sanitary food handling.
- Implements the back of the house cleaning schedules and directs work as needed on a daily basis including washing of pots, pans, and cooking utensils as work is completed. May self-perform these tasks. Checks kitchen for cleanliness daily.
- Works with the Manager on menu creation. Reviews menus to determine type and quantities of food to prepare. Places food orders weekly by using online and written applications.
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes and correctly converts recipes to adjust for quantities needed. Helps staff with recipe conversions as needed.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- At least four (4) years of food service, cooking, and supervising experience
- Culinary degree preferred
- Ability to pass a drug test (including testing for Marijuana)
