- Serve, in partnership with the Director of Elementary Schools, as the District’s Harassment, Intimidation, and Bullying (HIB) Compliance Officer, leading investigations and ensuring a safe environment for all students.
- Serve as the district’s Hearing Officer, overseeing formal hearings related to student issues.
- Act as the Superintendent’s designee for student discipline appeals, ensuring the fair and timely resolution of cases.
- Act as a liaison between the district and families, addressing concerns related to student success and promoting collaboration between the school district and community.
- Maintain current knowledge of legislation, regulations, and best practices in student success.
- Plan and facilitate professional learning opportunities for Secondary school leaders, including assistant principals, principals, and associate administrators, focusing on enhancing instructional leadership and operational excellence.
- Support the integration of technology in the classroom, assisting staff in adapting their instruction and utilizing technology effectively.

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Director of Secondary Schools works in close collaboration with the Executive Director of Secondary Education and other district leadership to provide instructional leadership, guidance, and support to Secondary school administrators. This position plays a critical role in ensuring school operations are aligned with district policies and goals, fostering positive relationships with stakeholders, and promoting a safe and effective learning environment for students and staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSREPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports to the Executive Director of Secondary Education.
This position experiences frequent interruptions and requires concentration and attention to detail. The Director must handle complex and high-pressure situations with professionalism and integrity, occasionally dealing with distraught or difficult individuals.
Education and Experience
Valid Washington State Administrative Credential (WSPC).
Master’s Degree in Educational Administration, Curriculum, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of successful educational administrative experience, including experience as a building principal.
Central office experience preferred.
Superintendent certification preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong academic preparation in instructional leadership, administration, and supervision.
Knowledge of Special Education issues, laws, and procedures.
Demonstrated understanding of effective instruction and assessment practices.
Ability to work effectively with administrators and teachers to improve student achievement.
Excellent public relations, written, and verbal communication skills.
Ability to develop and monitor budgets and manage fiscal resources.
