Job Summary
:
Provide locksmith services to the entire university and assist with maintenance in the residence halls.
Note that this position requires being on call one week out of every four.
Responsibilities
:
1. Performs locksmith duties to the entire university. – 40%
2. Repairs and maintains exterior and interior doors - 25%
3. Assists with maintenance and repairs to appliances, furniture and other equipment found in residence halls - 15%
4. Administers key and lock program for the university - 10%
5. Assist the technical operations and grounds teams with maintenance and repairs. – 10%
Required Skills
:- Working knowledge of Schlage, Sargent and Best master key systems.
- Ability to solve problems under pressure.
- Must have a valid Minnesota driver’s license.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Must be able to interact effectively with a wide variety of individuals.
- Must possess strong organizational skills.
- Must be able to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Must be able to operate small power tools and other small machinery.
- Must have a strong commitment to customer service.
- Must be able to manage multiple projects.
- Working knowledge of all aspects of building repair and maintenance.
2 years of locksmith experience.
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.

Travel: This position requires little to no travel.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.
Complies with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.
This position may be required to enter active construction sites and may need to access areas of the university that vary in temperature.
This position may require exposure to chemicals and pesticides.

Expected Hours of Work:
Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties
demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
This position also requires being on call one week out of every four.
